Story
Claudia was born on 2 September 1996 in Madrid, Spain. She lived there for 2 years. Then she and my fathers migrated to galicia, ames because they didn´t like live in a city. When Claudia was 17 she went to a institute of Santiago de Compostela and she made pendular migration every week.
When she finished, she went to Barcelona to study medicine in a good university. She studied for 2 years and she decided move to Portugal, Lisbon because she love see another countrys and places. Now she lives there.

Story
José moved to Zürich when he was 9 years. He moved to Zürich by train and the journey took about one day. His parents were working in a hotel.
José started to go to a public school. He remembered that in PE was the first time that he saw a lot of football balls. He learned Züridütschan and German. José speak a beat of Italian too. He said there was one teacher who speaks Spanish and helped him with the language. In Switzerland children don´t start reading before 7 years.
He told us that people in this city were very polite with migrants.
There were differences between the migrants and the native people Straße of Zürich

When he was a child he was amazing because there were a lot of cars, especially Mercedes
He lived in an apartment with his two siblings and with his dad and mum. He did karate and he showed us a certificate of his lessons.
José at the age of ten was always riding to the train station. There he only saw Galician people and he was surprised about it. He recalled that all of these migrants had a sticker on their jackets which indicates the factory that they were going to work.
When he was sixteen years old he decided to become a mechanic. Also he had experience with electrician and carpenter. He studied mechanical for four years and then he did so many courses.
He worked in a petrol station, in the Volkswagen factory but at the age of 29 he owned an auto repair shop.
Later he moved to Galicia to bring some cars for here. He came 1 week here and another week in his garage.
One day he had an accident when he was bringing cars to Bertamiráns so he make a house in this place to start here a new life.
Nowadays he goes to Zürich to visit some friends and he knows about his garage. He knows that was closed short time but now is reopened.
He felt happy to have lived in Switzerland and showed us his grateful to the Swiss people for his kidness.

Chámome Juan Castro e nacín o 7 de xuño de 1943.

Aos 16 anos na Coruña xa estaba desencantado co meu traballo nun almacén de tecidos. O escaparatista decidiu facerse independente e ofreceume traballo con el, como non sabía canto traballo habería, e co que eu gañaba daquela non podía vivir sen o apoio dos meus pais, decidín marchar para Suíza buscando outras oportunidades que, naqueles tempos, non existían en España.

Suíza: xuño de 1960 a setembro de 1967

O meu primeiro traballo en Suíza foi “de lavapratos". Progresei a axudante de cociña; logo fixen un curso de electrónica que me permitiu obter traballo nunha bolera, onde rematei como xefe de máquinas. Aínda que o soldo era bo, non lle vía moito futuro. Despois fun aceptado por unha compañía de supermercados para facer un curso de xerente (7 meses). Pero xerente dun supermercado con 40 empregados, tampouco era o que estaba buscando. Paralelamente, estaba bastante metido no mundo da natación, como nadador e como adestrador. Nos campionatos europeos nos que participei coñecín a un nadador inglés que marchou a Canadá como adestrador do equipo de natación más potente. En 1967, xa farto do traballo de xerente e con intencións de facer unha carreira de adestrador decidín emigrar de novo.

Canadá: setembro de 1967 a maio de 1969

Canadá foi unha revelación. En Suíza os españois e italianos eramos cidadáns de segunda clase. En Canadá eramos “New Canadians”. Pero o desemprego era moi alto. Coñecín a un adestrador australiano que me ofreceu traballo en Australia. Aceptei a oferta, pois os traballos de adestrador de natación eran tan raros coma dentes de galiña. Collín un traballo de asistente de cociña e despois de seis meses xa tiña bastantes cartos para a viaxe. Deixei o traballo en decembro de 1968 con intención de saír cara Australia a mediados de xaneiro. Por culpa dunha folga de Correos, o meu pasaporte tardou seis semanas en tramitarse. Para entón, xa non tiña bastantes cartos para a viaxe e tiven que volver traballar.

Suíza: maio de 1969 a setembro de 1969

En maio aceptei unha oferta para adestrar un equipo en Ginebra no verán. Alí foi onde coñecín a Ornella, unha chica italiana que acabou sendo a miña muller.

Australia: setembro de 1969 ata hoxe.

Australia non podía ser más diferente de Suíza e Canadá. Había traballo a patadas, pero eu non andaba moi contento. O traballo co adestrador australiano non estaba mal, pero pagaba pouco; e cando Ornella chegou en decembro tiven que buscar outro emprego: xefe de máquinas dunha bolera coa mesma compañía coa que traballara en Suíza. Tres anos máis tarde, tiña dúas fillas. Se non fora por iso, quizais volveramos a Europa. Pero coas dúas nenas e o que custaba a viaxe naqueles tempos non era posible.

En 1973 aluguei unha piscina nun centro deportivo e fundei a escola de natación. Ao mesmo tempo traballaba de adestrador nun equipo local. No ano 1982, cando a compañía decidiu edificar no solar da piscina, construín unha piscina propia e continuei coas clases, xa que isto era o que quería facer o resto da miña vida, e ademais estaba moi ben pagado. Continuei como adestrador hasta 2001 (3 clubs diferentes en Australia, 23 anos co último). A escola de natación, aparte de 7 meses durante construción da piscina, estivo funcionando dende 1973 ata que me retirei no 2013.

Aparte dos primeiros anos, non cambiariamos Australia por ningún outro país. En xuño deste ano vai facer 59 anos que marchei de España. A emigración hoxe en día é un problema para moitos países e moita xente morre no intento. Non son comparables as dificultades que pasei nos meus tempos coas que sofren os emigrantes de hoxe. Eu sempre tiven a oportunidade de volver atrás (a España, Suiza ou Canadá). A maioría dos emigrantes de agora, non poden facelo.

Story
Ramón Castro Lestón is a migrant , he is my grandfather , was born in Galicia , Spain . He leaved Spain when he was about 39 years , and then he emigrated to Switzerland ,the migration was seasonal . Ramón was working in a merchantman , working as a cooker ,when he decided to look for a job with better working conditions . A few months later my grandfather found an agreement in an enterprise of construction called Jeam Fantolini á Bonvillar of the position of framer , the working conditions wasn´t the best but the salary was much better, Ramón had to maintain his wife and her 3 children , so he decided to call the employes of the enterprise to work at it . A few weeks later he was taked on .The 5 -12-1972 , he leave Spain , and about the 4-11-1992 he was at Switzerland .The company was very clever because he maked the contract for 6 months and when the 6 months had finished , the contract ends and my grandfather had to retun to Spain , and then when the summer ends , in december the company taked on again , to work at the same conditions ,and at the same position , the enterprise didn´t like to pay my grandfather holidays , he was in charged stop during the summer. About 10 years before my grandmother was sick of cancer of prancreas , my grandfather had 4 children to maintain so he decided to continue working for this company. 1 year before my grandmother was died , and the four children were about : 9,13,16,18 years old ,so they have to distribute money for all of the months,7 years before my aunt Loli got merried with her groom ,and then my other uncle got merried 3 years after . Ramón retunted to Spain 3-12-1993 , because he has 60 , and he was retired , he got a diploma of the enterprise Jean Fantollini á Bonvillar . He stayed 21 years working in Switzerland of framer .Then actually he has 84 years old he has 5 grandchildren , and he lives in Muros , Ramón is a very happy migrant.He Was very worried about his sons, but he learnt german fluently . When Ramón starts to Live in Switzerland, he thinks that this country Was very similar ro Spain, but Spain Was cheaper than Switzerland. He missed the sea and the gastronomy oficial Galicia. He learn German quickly, so ir Was not dificultades todo Ramón. Encofrador-persona que hace armazones.

Polo ano 1970 por circunstancias economicas precarias meu avó tivo que tomar a decision de buscar alternativas para poder alimentar a famila. Por aquel entonces 3 fillos e a dona. Atraves de uns amigos que lle axudaron a preparar os papeis pra ir a traballar a Alemania.
Traballaba nun hotel de axudante de cociña pasouno moi mal por non saber o idioma e as condicions de traballo eran malas, e as relaccions cos conpañeiros tampouco eran boas
