Meaning of the surname
Patronymic surname of Galician origin. According to some scholars it originates from th name Miguel. This lineage can be found in the village of Porriño, from where they had to pass to the village of Noia and Redondela. The Solar house must have been around Noia. From there were the Lope Miguez, who served the Emperor Alfonso VII as Alferez Mayor of D.Fernán Pérez de Traba.
At present it is possible to find Míguez in almost all the world especially in America and in Coasts that are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
